Pitti Immagine Uomo 86: Day 1
Pitti Immagine Uomo 86 is one of the biggest menswear fashion fairs in Europe, which is held in Firenze, Florence, at Fortezza da Basso, twice a year. The first edition of Pitti Uomo featuring men’s fashion and accessories was held in 1972 and since then, it became a platform for arising Italian designers and now, an international leading fashion fair.
The theme of this edition is ping pong, a metaphor for the elegance and attitude, that is to be found in fashion, but also in sport.
The first day started with an opening ceremony at Palazzo Vecchio and with the launch of Fashion Atlas, a book of fashion histories and geographies from Florence, followed in the evening by a photography exhibition, sponsored by the Italian Vogue, celebrating the five Italian brands that were born in Florence: Pucci, Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Ermanno Scervino and Roberto Cavalli.
In the evening, at Cinema Teatro Odeon, Pitti showcased a selection of videos, focusing on the history of italian fashion and its heritage, La Notte dei Modivori. The day ended with a cocktail party in collaboration with Ladurée, Firenze Made in Tuscany.
With everything happening on and with this hot weather, we do managed to snap some stylish people! Here are some of our favourite looks from the first day of Pitti Uomo 86 – more pictures to follow soon:
